Thinktank Waterless Toilet - Canadian Made Urine Diverting Composting Toilet
Questions about this product
Questions about this product
What is the ThinkTank Waterless Toilet and how does it prevent smells?
It’s a urine-diverting, waterless toilet that separates liquids from solids and uses sealed 3 inch intake and exhaust vents with fans to keep negative pressure in the toilet. That design eliminates room odours
Does it need power or water?
This toilet doesn’t require water. It uses a low-draw 12V fan (about 2.5W) and includes a 110-120V wall transformer, allowing you to run it from a small battery or a standard outlet.
How do I handle urine, and what size is the drain?
Urine exits the rear of the toilet at about 7 inches height. Connect it to 1 inch PVC or ABS pipe or a 1 inch ID hose and route to a tank, French drain, or approved greywater system. Always follow local rules for urine disposal.
How often do I empty the solids and what’s included?
Plan on roughly 50 solid uses per empty, depending on users and cover habits. In the box you get the solids container with lid plus the key vent parts for intake and exhaust.
Any install tips to keep odors down outside?
To minimize odours, terminate the 3-inch exhaust pipe away from doors, decks, and windows. Use the supplied intake and exhaust as directed. It’s normal to have a slight odour near the vent cap, as this is expected for any vented system.

Thinktank Waterless Toilet - Canadian Made Urine Diverting Composting Toilet
The Thinktank Waterless Toilet is a premium urine diverting composting toilet designed for off grid homes, cabins, cottages and remote applications where reliability, cleanliness and low operating cost matter. Made in Canada, it uses a patented airtight design that draws all ventilation air from outside, circulates it through the toilet and exhausts it back outside. This prevents your heated or cooled indoor air from being pulled out of the building, saving energy over time and improving comfort.
Instead of a small trap door like many composting toilets, the Thinktank features a large vertical chute that significantly reduces splashing and contact with the bowl. Waste drops cleanly into a compostable bag in the solids container, making emptying quick and straightforward. The tightly sealed design, silicone lid seal and forced ventilation make insect ingress and odours far less likely compared to many other systems.
Urine is diverted to a rear drain outlet and routed via a flexible hose to a French drain, grey water system or tank. The patented trap door design allows men to stand when urinating and prevents urine from entering the solids bin. With marine grade stainless hardware, rotationally molded shell, long life fan and a best in class warranty, this system is built for serious long term use.
